Sesame seeds (तिल) - Sesame seeds (sésamon) are unitary of the oldest oil seed crop which has a history of around 3000 years. Sesame Seeds are known for their high oil content. It also has a smell like nuts. India is among the highest exporter of this harvest.. In India it is known as " Tilli " available majorly in off set white tille (Safed Tilli) and many other colors like black, brown, reddish, gray. Sesame Seed has a high Drought Tolerance it can easily grow in drought prone areas because it requires less water than other oil crops only it needs a little moisture at the time of sprouting. Seasame has many names in various languages, it is known as Konjed, Kunjut, Kunžut in Persian, Shushma in Armenian, (Benne, Bene, Ridi, Igogo, Ocha, Ishwa, Ekuku, Eeku) in West Africa, جلجلان, سمسم in Arabic, Zhī Má, Hú Má in Chinese Mandarin etc.
